One of the most beautiful towns on our planet, listed on UNESCO World Heritage chart, Luangprabang, is the best place in Laos to relax and forget about the world. It is home to thousands of Buddhist monks and novices occupying 30+ wats (temples), some of which dating back hundreds of years and still in perfect condition. It is a miracle how this gem of Laos survived the communist revolution. I was lucky to spend my birthday there. I met many of the monks and novices.
