Morondava is a small town on the west coast of Madagascar, famous for its dry and sunny climate (over 300 days of sunshine in the year) and its nearby species of baobab - adasonia grandieri. Morondava is a popular place to visit and the Avenue of Baobabs is the most photographed spot of Madagascar. In town there is little to see or do, apart from lying on the beach and making side trip to the bush and nearby wildlife reserves and national parks, such as Tsingy. Morodava has a domestic airport with flights several times a week, but these are operated by small airplanes and the flights are often fully booked. Trip south towards Morombe and Toliara is very difficult due to the lack of roads, and can only be made with very strong 4x4 (privately hired) or large trucks used as public buses. There are a couple of rivers to cross and there are no bridges. The road to Antananarivo is fairly good but it is a long way, which may take over 17 hours. [edit text][editors]
