Museum Lambert van Meerten |
This small museum is housed in a completely furnished 19th century canal house. Lambert van Meerten built this dream house in 1892, using antique building material. This neo-renaissance building was one of the first houses in Delft to have its own sewer system, central heating, running water, electricity and gas.
The museum is full of paintings, Delftware and period furniture. The vast display of hand-painted delftware tiles is a pleasure for the eye. Its main attraction is the Johannes Vermeer room. This is a replica of the interiors Vermeer used to paint. It is all there the shutters in front of the windows, the box bed, the wardrobes. Only Vermeer with his easel is missing
