.... I find the natural wonders in this world far more impressing. All those "new wonders" are quite easy to build with enough motivation and capital. Those that I have visited somehow always seem smaller and plain than described or in pictures! I find invention & exploration achievements far more as wonders:

- The 3 Books: Bible, Koran & Torah

- Discovery of Penicillin

- Discovery of X-Rays

- Landing on the Monn

- The United Nations Organisation

- The PC

- The Internet

For www.n7w.com I expect that voters choose to vote for wonders from their home-country or neighbours first (like at "Eurovision") which gives a false result. Also, only those with internet vote! :- (

I also would like to add:

1.Lake Baikal in Russia-the largest fresh water lake

2. Caspian sea-the largest salt water lake

3. Lombard street in San Francisco-the most crooked street in the world

and the most photographed street in the world

4.Yellowstone National Park

5.Colca canyon in Peru-said to be the dippest one in the world.

7.Pacific ocean-the dippest and the largest in the world

8.Sequoia trees-the largest and longest lived trees in the world-over 2000 years.

Hello Kenny and welcome to GLOBO, hope to see and hear more of you! Most people vote for targets in their own country and neighbourhood so the winners are automatically the most informed with internet connection and those where the voters are from! I am well travelled and have no home and am very independent and flexible, my honhest votes are for:

These are Isabelle's picks:

01Taj Mahal, India

02Machu Picchu, Peru

03Great Wall of China

04The Pyramid at Chichén Itza,Mexico

05The Kremlin and Red Square, Russia

06Stonehenge, UK

07Angkor Wat, Cambodia

"But I have to admit I still want these two as well!"

07Pyramid of Giza, Egypt

07Petra, Jordan

Difficult decisions!

"Take care

isabelle"

now we knew the 7 'new' wonders and i dont want to comment if it is right or wrong, especially because its an private initiative of an businessman.

who says that 90mill. votes tells the truth. what happend with the folks who are unable to vote by phone or www.

and the next count is waiting, the New 7 Wonders of Nature, New 7 Wonders of Technology, 7 Symbols of Peace. lets take it humorous ...

just some thoughts

I think when the first Seven Wonders where chosen, I'm sure it was done by scholars and the general public didn't have a say.

Now we have a say (well the richer, technologically minded). I think it's a but of fun, as it won't change anything?

I'm not sure, may be the ones chosen will see more tourists, but we will still want to see the others that didn't make the cut.

I've just checked the New7wonders website (www.n7w.com) and it appears that the icons have been chosen.

There winners are:

The Great Wall, China

Petra, Jordan

Christ Redeemer, Brazil

Machu Picchu, Peru

Chichén Itzá, Mexico

The Roman Colosseum, Italy

The Taj Mahal, India

The only funny thing is that the Pyramids of Giza doesn't appear; whilst it is the only surviving from the original list; and of course three are from the Americas.
