This is a good game:-

Some favourites that I have visited. I choose the least touristy.

(1) Palawan – Island of the Philippines

(2) Samoa – Western Samoa

(3) Cartagena - Colombia

My wish list comes big – i.e Continents or large parts thereof

(1)Middle & South America

(2) China

(3) Indochina

I hope to do these in the next twenty years!

Cheers!

I'm very restricted, to Europe except for one trip to Zimbabwe, but I reckon my favourites are world class even so.

1. Victoria Falls [Zambia and Zimbabwe]

2. Trollsfjord [Lofoten, Norway]

3. Alhambra [Granada, Spain]

Wish list

1. Macchu Pichu - going in September.

2. Southern Alps [New Zealand] - my son and some friends rave about them.

3. Grand Canyon - a wish unlikely to be gratified because of the cost of insurance.

Once again, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum. Like I said it’s just interesting so see people's desires.

Last year I saw a BBC holiday programme which counted down the top 50 places to visit before you die. And not surprisingly a lot of the places they mentioned appeared on our list also.

As the sample size was quite small, here’s our list of the top 5 places (in no particular order):

1. India

2. Peru, Machu Picchu

3. Cambodia, Angkor Wat

4. China, The Great Wall

5. Nepal, Himalayas

Interestingly, India appears at number 6 and 10 on their list. And Machu Picchu is way down at number 14. I wonder if this says something about the mentality of the British.

Anyhow, if you are curious, or because I’m quite sad when it comes to travelling, I thought I’d list the UK’s perspective on the top fifty places:

1. Grand Canyon, 2. Great Barrier Reef, 3. Florida, 4. South Island, New Zealand, 5. Cape Town, 6. Golden Temple at Amritsar, 7. Las Vegas, 8. Sydney, 9. New York, 10. Taj Mahal, 11. Canadian Rockies, 12. Uluru (Ayers Rock), 13. Chichen Itza – Mexico, 14. Machu Picchu – Peru, 15. Niagara Falls, 16. Petra – Jordan, 17. The Pyramids – Egypt, 18. Venice, 19. Maldives, 20. Great Wall of China, 21. Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe, 22. Hong Kong, 23. Yosemite National Park, 24. Hawaii, 25. Auckland - New Zealand, 26. Iguassu Falls, 27. Paris, 28. Alaska, 29. Angkor Wat – Cambodia, 30. Himalayas – Nepal, 31. Rio de Janeiro – Brazil, 32. Masai Mara – Kenya, 33. Galapagos Islands – Ecuador, 34. Luxor – Egypt, 35. Rome, 36, San Francisco, 37. Barcelona, 38. Dubai, 39. Singapore, 40. La Digue – Seychelles, 41. Sri Lanka, 42. Bangkok, 43. Barbados, 44. Iceland, 45. Terracotta Army – China, 46. Zermatt – Switzerland, 47. Angel Falls – Venezuela, 48. Abu Simbel – Egypt, 49. Bali, and at number 50. French Polynesia.
