El Tambo
I have been treaveling through Chile, Bolivia and Peru for 5 month now and I have to say, this is the nicest place I´ve been to so far.
For 10 Soles the night you get a single room with breakfast (a good one) and free internet access included. The owner is a nice lady who givs a lot of tips for tours and hikes and helps to get a good price. Everithig, from the bathrooms over the kitchen - to which you have free access as well - and even the beds are in very good shape! Unfortunately it is not easy to find, ut its located near the stadium and the main market! Just ask the friendly people of this town!
My recomondation is go for it! more

Active Exelente tour in huaraz. very good price. Leonardo, The best guide that we have had in the whole Peru. Leonardo knows much of flora and fauna, apart from being a very good person.
The only one problem is that the motor-coaches are a bit inconvinient more
Siam de los Andes
It is a the bottom of the mid range and upper end of a budget place. Probably the best Thai food in the Western Hemisphere. Absolutely fabulous. Their buffet is extraordinary and curries are delicious. There are no words to describe! It is located in a slightly dark street out of the centre, which might be hard to find. But once I ate there, I did not go anywhere else during my entire stay in the town! But I am addicted to Thai food, I guess. more
Hostal Montanero
It is about $30-$45 for clean and very comfortable room with hot shower. Staff are friendly and helpful. Some rooms have good views. It's safe and in a great location. more
