These are fascinating; are they a result of a volcanic eruption?

Wow! Were these sinter pools the ones that were partially damaged by an earthquake back in the 20th Centuary? If I remember my geology lessons they are produced by the disolution of silica from the mineral rich hydrothermal waters. While not directly the result of a volcanic eruption the waters are heated underground by volcanic activity, allowing them to disolve many minerals which they have brought to the surface.
But can you swim in them? 5*

Piret, what a great pic. Did you have a swim there?
