Food in National Parks

Posted: 2008-07-14 11:14 AM
Hi Eire,

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry you felt offended by my observations - I have to admit that I try to avoid those, but I guess it slipped this time. It was not my intention to single out a specific nation. I will change it.

Yes, I have seen scandalous behaviour, particularly in Zion and Yosemite, by both the US citizens and more visibly by the Italians, but no doubt there were others. I saw people feeding rodents and other animals species of which I cannot figure out. Not so much in Arches, as I did not camp there. In every NP there is so much information about how to deal with food and yet National Geographic Channel has got miles and miles of film about how people can be irresponsible whilst in the parks.

Anyway. Many thanks for letting me know.

Kindest regards
Krys

Namib Desert

Posted: 2008-07-12 02:12 PM
Hello Eire,

When I was younger I thought a desert was just barren land with just sand, without character and all the same.

But now I now deserts are so diverse and seeing your pictures with all the different wind erodes formations just reminded me. Fantastis shots that are so completely different from the deserts of Namibia. I suppose, it's because of its age, those sort of formations are long gone.

But thanks for mention of my tree pictures, I really like that one with the huge sand dune behind.

Have a nice day

Excellent slideshow

Eire,

I really enjoyed looking at your slideshow; the desert seems so alive and seeing the various colours is inspiring.

My favourite picture is definitely 'Formations at Sunrise/Moonset'

All the best

Your forum posting

Hi Eire,

I just had finished my answer regarding your forum posting (the wave of unseen pictures) - and oops, my 'painful verbalized' opinion had gone. The topic had been deleted. That's not worth mentioning it, but it made me think that I could send you some greetings.

I've been in your region in May. A cousin of my is living in Mountain View for approx. 2 years - and someone of the family had to look at her. I had to be persuaded... :-) We had a wonderful time including 2 weeks travelling from Sonoma Valley down to San Diego. Amongst others your Big Sur-report has been very helpful! I am afraid that that this region is completely burned now!?

Well, I hope you are doing well!! And now it is for for the above mentiones greetings:

Warm regards, Christian

Egypt

Hi Eire,

I see that you have had a wonderful tim in Egipt. It can be marvelous but sometimes very frustrating country, how was it for you? I remeber that Egypt was my first trip so I still have a lot of nice memories.
Anyway I can't wait to see more photos (those from Dahab are superb) and maybe a report ?

Have a nice day
Rafal
