ALINGHI!

Hi Brit

thank you for uploading that picture... hehehe
It got 5 stars from me ;-) for obvious reasons!

We swiss as a sailing nation are very proud of our boat ;-)
I own two t-shirts!

there is just a slight mistake you made... alinghi won the prestigious americas cup and not the RTW race this race has been won several times by swiss yachts already but its the first americas cup victory!

Boomerang back ? Throw it first !

Posted: 2005-01-20 05:58 PM
>...I don't think any >publisher would be interested!

An Australian folklore song says something like "Boy,. .. if you want your bomerang back .. first you´ve gotta throw it.

A good quality photo book in a home, main room, for guests, is quite a must in some countries. Unfortunately not here in Brazil, but I do have one. I don´t know how it is in Great Britain, but your pictures (maybe 30 or 40 of them, in good quality paper) should be a sucess ! Publishers always run against the current.

>love beach shot with the red Eski!!

Most lovely place I´ve ever seen and been. Extremely cheap and beautiful. This red Eski was full of ... and ice, and was carried by a man, on his shoulders, for about nothing. Kind of embarassing, but quite good too. There are thousands of fresh water swimming pools within a dand desert, 1 yard deep. Tuff life !
Flight straight from Lisbon, or Madrid.

Cardioverter/defibrillater

Hi Brit
You were considerate enough to write privately in reply to my query about travel insurance.
However, although I don't go in for rabbiting on about my health, there's no way I regard it as a secret and occasionally I have referred to heart problems or difficulty in going up steps in my reports. I always hope they will encourage others who aren't fully fit to rejoice in what they can do rather than brood about what they can't.
Basically I had a serious heart problem after flu in 1995 and, after a few days immobile in coronary care, I could only walk with the aid of two ward sisters. I now have an implanted machine of the above nature - roughly the opposite to a pacemaker. It tries [and usually succeeds] in keeping my heartbeat down when it gets too rapid. If that fails, it belts me with a sort of double electric shock, the first bit stopping the heart and the second starting it again.
Thanks again for your consideration.
Cheers,
David

Quite nice ones !

Congratulations Brit. Best pictures I´ve ever seen. You should "write" a book with them, if you haven´t already done it.

Feeling guilty

Posted: 2005-01-19 12:03 PM
Thanks for you comments. I do feel a little guilty as the response to the competition wasn't that great.

But as you said, I will sport my rucksack with pride.

Have a good day

You're welcome Brit.

Hi Brit,

It is unquestionable that your reports are filled with plenty of delightful details and expressed in a beautiful English language that I cannot but praise as an English teacher, translator-Interpreter and freelance tour guide.

You are mentioning my activity on Globo on a daily basis. Of course it is the case for now as I have been on Christmas holiday since Decemer 17th; we have a one-month leave during this period; but unfortunately (for Globo and not for my pupils, I hope so) I am returning to school on next Tuesday (not Monday as I do not work on Mondays, I have 3-day weekends. Please hold on until I may upload lots of photos of the food trucks (the "roulottes"). I will prepare a special slide show just for you.

Cheers Brit.

See you.

Britman, you are a star

Thank you for being encouraging.
My incompetence accounts for lack of info on my site , and lack of courage!

You comments and photos are terrific.
Do not think I will ever get close - but please keep it up.

Slide shows

Posted: 2005-01-14 10:21 PM
Thank you so much Brit,

As I have reached the maximum uploadable amount of pics for January, the only thing I can do now is producing new slide shows. In February I will add photos to the various slide shows already existing. And I also will have more time to browse through the thousands of pictures available on Globo.

Cheers.
