Surf up here.....

Posted: 2004-08-23 02:08 AM
I'm not really sure on the surf up here because I'm not much of a surfer. I have a friend who body surfs and goes boogey boarding all the time, I know its not the same but its something. Next time I meet a surfer I'll ask them. A neighboring town is starting to be well known for skating too. Its a start. Australia hey? I'll be heading over there myself to visit a friend of mine. But I'll also be visiting England like I said, I have a whole bunch of friends over there. But anytime you want to send me some surfing tips, I'll listen.

Hey just wanted to sign your guestbook too. Doesn't look like you have any pics, but its alright, you've written articles which is more than I can say. I lived in San Diego for a year too. It was amazing. Although its gorgeous where I'm from too. I'll be heading out to England next year around April/May maybe I'll pop on over for a visit. Well, thats all for now.

Teresa

P.S. I'm not sure if you ever went to TJ (Tijuana, Mexico) but if you ever do to party, dont wear any open toe shoes because of all the filth. Laters.

Hi Ned

Ned,

I lived in Japan for 2 years. While there, I took several vacations, including one to Beijing for a week. Not long enough...c'est la vie.

Thanks about the comments on the pics. I have hundreds of pics, but I've only just joined, so eventually they should get up on the site.

ahhh, this is the life......

Hello again, you asked where my favorite place for diving is, my best dive was a deep dive (40 meters) to an old shipwreck off the coast of Sosua, Dominican Republic. It was amazing, at 20 meters you look up and can't see the surface, look down and no bottom, it was like being in space, just hanging there. Then coming closer to the bottom there were thousands of small (1-2 inch) jelly fish, it was beautiful, cheesy as it sounds, it looked and felt like heaven.
I have never tried surfing but definatly will some day, I love water sports, I waterski and kneeboard, I love going out on the lake or ocean in a boat, just sitting on the water and taking everything in. I don't think there is anywhere in the world you could go sit on the water and it wouldn't be beautiful, especially on a sunny day! Could you picture yourself sitting in a boat or a kayak looking around and thinking, "my god, what an ugly view"!?! Anyway, goota run, SMILE, Sheri

Surfing in NZ

Posted: 2004-08-12 05:21 AM
Hi Ned,

Surfing in NZ is supposedly pretty good. Not a surfer, but know where the good surf is. In the North Island, the west coast beaches of Auckland are pretty rugged, but awesome waves, and Raglan, near Hamilton is always a popular spot. To get there, it is best to hire a car (or buy which is pretty cheap). Else there are buses like KiwiExperience (ozexperience.com.au and click on the NZ link), but you'll miss out on these spots. If it's the South Island you are looking at, then Otago or the West Coast is the place to go. It's a bit of a tourist haunch, but worth the trek. Hope you enjoy NZ!
