I'm glad you enjoyed my photographs of The Bahamas. You'll love it there and the people are very friendly. I'll write a report soon if you want further information about Cable Beach and Nassau

Thanks for your comment. It sounds as if you could do something very good on the Aeolians generally!

Sri Lanka

Posted: 2005-01-07 08:19 AM
Hi Larry,

Thanks so much for reading and rating my report. It is horrendous to witness the wholesale devastation, death, injury, displacement and heartbreak that this tsunami wrought. We of course are mere spectators, fortunately watching from the comfort, luxury and protection of our own homes. Can you imagine if we lived there?

I fear that the Sri Lankan situation is truly grave. Apart from the human tragedies which are incomprehensible, the coastal infrastructure appears to have been decimated. Sri Lanka will need replacement modern roads around the island; water, electricity and sanitation works before any rebuilding or resettlement work can even begin. Meanwhile, the survivors, homeless and orphaned are all additionally emotionally traumatized. They need water, medicine, food, shelter and counselling.

All that we can do as spectators is to donate money to the aid charities. No matter what our personal circumstances are, we are all rich, compared to these poor wretched victims.

India calling !

Hi Larry,
Thanks for your kind message. Yes we, on the west cost of India were very lucky indeed as Tsunami was creating havoc on the east cost and other places like Sri Lanka. But having said that I must add that our fishing fraternity is paying a heavy price economically after the disaster. Please carry on praying for the thousands affected by the tragedy while we concentrate re building our life. Thank you once again for thinking of us and our wishes to u for a Happy 2005

Hi Larry,

What a superb close up of the rose. I took the opportunity of looking at your impressive array of other pictures too - I enjoyed what I saw!

Keep up the good work - it's a pleasure to look at your pages.

Happy New Year,

I have just rated one or two of your photos. I say one or two because I am not sure the second rating was actually validated as my browser happened to freeze and the connection was broken, something that happens too often on Globosapiens (do you experience the same kind of problems?). As I can see, you are of Italian origin and you live in Florida, an American state I don't know yet. As far as Sicily is concerned, this is another matter as I went visiting it in 1982 (at the time, I worked in eastern Algeria and I only had to drive across the north of Tunisia and the straight and to sail from Tunis to Palermo. I really loved Sicily as I love all the mediterranean countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, North Africa and some places with the same mild climate (Napier in New-Zealand for example). So I was pleased to find photos of Agrigento among some of yours. I have a vibrant memory of the islands of Lipari and Vulcano.

Ciao Lorenzo!

Thanks for taking a look at my photos. I took the photos of Rome back in 1987. I am scanning slides now, so I can post some more of them. I am taking beginning Italian this year, in preparation for some future visit to Italy.

Felice Anno Nuovo!
