Adam,
Thanks for reading my budapest report. It is a perfect city to stroll about. I especially like the Soviet statues, but that may not be so very special for you.
I hope to read your Budapest report and see your pictures

Thanks for your wishes. I have been following your travel experiences through your pictures and reports. I liked the Odessa report very much and also the picture of Ayu-Dag.
Thanks for your note; I suppose much like Prague, too many tourist in the height of the summer season.
I really enjoyed being in Poland and Krakow is a wonderful city. I'm so pleased I went, but I'm going to have to visit again, as there was so much that I didn't see.

hi Adam,
Thanks a lot. We have now worked out our route. arrival at Katowice (airport) then on to Krakow, from here to Wroclow, on to Dresden and then to Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic (to see friends).
The website of the Polish trains was very helpful as I found the best connection and also intermediate stations. We're leaving on Tuesday.

Adam,
The murals will be closed forever. When they were found in 1947, the rooms were filled with rock and the murals were in perfect condition. Early photos show their full beauty. The damp rain forest climate has been the culprit. These are painted in a thin colored stucco which is being "eaten" by mold and mildew.
There is a dispute with the Lakadon Mayan tribe whose land they sit on because it brings revenue to these people. The site is small and the rest of the ruins are unexceptional. Bonampak is so far out of the way though that they only get a couple of visitors a day. We had it all to ourselves the day we went.
It is a shame - they tell so much about Mayan life!

Adam,
I am glad you enjoyed the photos of the Mayan murals. They were a challenge to take - no flash and very small dark rooms. In 2009 they will be closed off to preserve them so I am glad to have been able to see them now!

Good travel tips for Prague. When I visit next I will go to the Mucha museum, because last time the weather was too nice and we didn't want to be indoor.
Thanks for all your info about Poland. I found out that it is best to travel from Katowice to Prague, or rather Kutna Hora.
Just two more questions.
1. Is there anything to see in katowice?
2. Are there long queues at the railway station to get tickets?
