Amsterdam - Netherlands, Noord-Holland The gutted interior of the theatre has been replaced by a gravelled area with benches facing an obelisk with the inscription " in memory of those taken from this place " -- the word 'those' replaces the original inscription which read 'fallen dutch jews'. an illuminated plaque lists 6700 family names. In addition to an eternal flame, the grassy courtyard behind the obelisk and wall has pictures of those imprisioned here taken from windows of adjacent buildings. In many ways, this monument is even more touching than the Anne Frank House, yet receives only 40000 visitors a year.
