This cell is stated to have been occupied by Gavrilo Princep whose assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was one of the events precipitating WWI. To young to be executed, he spent the last years of his life in this windowless cell ( small window added later ) dying in darkness and solitude in 1918 of tuberculosis.
