Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada
Don't miss this one. Even at the entry price of 6 euro the treasures the Cathedral of Toledo holds is astonishing. Just a few of the highlights are the Choir (Coro), Capilla Mayor, the Transparente sculpture, the fresco of St Christopher and the Treasury (Tesoro) which boasts a solid silver & gilt reposititory for the Eucharist wafers that stands more than 10 feet high and weighs over 200 kilos. more
Iglesia de Santo Tome
Housed in a rather ordinary looking church but highly reccommended due to the magnificent painting by El Greco of the Burial of Senor Orgaz (El Entierro de Senor de Orgaz.
Pay the extra euro for the audioguide to really understand the painting in full. more

Cafe Bar Toledo

Museo de Santa Cruz
The Museo de Santa Cruz is accessed from the Plaza de Zocodover, which vies with the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to be considered the centre of Toledo.
It is regarded as Toledo's main museum, which has to make it somewhat special - and it is. The building is simply elegant, with a beautiful entrane and courtyard.
My own favourite displays were those in the industrail art section but the historic artefacts of different periods of the city's history run a close second. more

Casa Museo de El Greco
Toledo and El Greco are practically inseparable in our thoughts. This museum has many of his fine paintings along with period furniture and works by other artists. The building, carefully restored to the splendour of a mansion of its time, was built for El Greco but there seems some doubt whether he ever actually lived in it.
Other of El Greco's paintings may be seen in the cathedral but the best known of them all, El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz, is to be seen in the Chuch of Santo Tome near to the museum. more

Cathedral
No doubt you would expect the cathedral of a city still regarded as the religious capital of Spain to be something rather special and you certainly won't be disappointed. Don't give the question of a ticket a second thought - go to the shop opposite the main entrance and buy one before you go in. You can see most of the cathedral but, believe me, you do NOT want to miss the rest, El Grecos and other paintings, woderful artefacts and, best of all, the fabulous choir.
There's so much to see that you should look at more than one website but don't miss the one given here and follow the tour that starts on that page for a mass of information as well as excellent photos. more

Museo Sefardí
The three thumbs really applies to the transito ex-synagogue including the museum rather than to the museum alone, although there the three would be about right for speakers of Spanish.
The Jews made a major contribution to Spanish society and lived in harmony with their Muslim and Christian compatriots in Toledo and elsewhere prior to the Christian expulsion of the other two faiths in 1492.
Spanish speakers will probably prefer the website at http://www.museosefardi.net/ more
