A quiet popular destination in north queensland. It is the closest mainland to the barrier reef and only a short drive from port douglas and cape tribulation

Karanda - Take the skyrail up and stop in th rainforest and then come back dwn on the old steam train taking in the beauty of barron falls
Crystal falls is worth a visit too

Backpakers lodge along martyn street or any of the hostels along the seafront.
Nightlife:
Go on the cairns pub crawls - legendary, with competitions in each venue!!!
Hangouts:
If you want a one night stand then the woolpackers or is it woolshed is the place for you. however the irish pub opposite is good fun or the pier. Order a pitcher of beer or bourbon and coke !
