Chicago is the 3rd biggest city in the United States, after New York and Los Angeles. The Windy City has a lot to offer visitors. While it might not be as well known as Los Angeles or New York, Chicago is still an impressive city.
Chicago also has the dubious honour of being the home of Al Capone and the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre during the days of the Prohibition. Chicaog is also home to a lively jazz/blues scene and the nightlife is great!
Located on one of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan, the weather is hot and humid in the summer and cold and damp during the winter.

| Favourite spots: |
The Field Museum – I enjoy most museums, but this one was unbelievable! It was one of the best museums I've ever visited, and I've seen plenty around the world.
When I went, it had exhibits on a wide variety of things, like gemstones, insects, and chocolate, in addition to all the regular exhibits, including Sue, the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found.

| What's really great: |
|
The city is full of things to see and do any time of day. And it offers a variety to fit anyone's tastes, from blues nightclubs to musuems to world class shopping to professional sports.

| Sights: |
Lake Michigan’s shoreline opposite the downtown core houses several must-see sights. The aforementioned Field Museum, the Adler Plantarium and Shedd Aquarium are all within a block or two of each other.
Farther north on Lake Shore drive is the Art Institute and Buckingham fountain. Head south and you run into Soldier Field (where the Chicago Bears play American-style football) and Burnham Park.
Another popular place is Navy Pier, with over 50 acres of attractions and entertainment, including an IMAX theatre, ferris wheel, and mini-golf to name a few.

| Accommodations: |
|
No matter how you slice it, staying in Chicago is going to be expensive. Expect to pay big league prices. My advice here is to do as the Americans do. Rent a car and get a hotel on the outskirts of the city. Yes, you’ll have to pay for parking and gas, but you’ll be able to find a decent room in the $60 range. Downtown rooms start at about $150+/night!

| Nightlife: |
Chicago's bars are plentiful and open late. The nightlife scene in town rivals any other city in the country. You can find standard beer halls, upscale blues bars, and anything else you're looking for. Chicago is especially well known for its blues and jazz music.
The nightlife scene is centered around Rush and Division Streets and Lincoln Park. There are also plenty of bars in Wrigleyville, the area around Wrigley Field. Downtown has many offerings as well.
My favourite was the House of Blues, and I'm not much of a blues fan, so that says something. Still, Chicago's nightlife offers something for everyone, from C&W to dance to blues clubs.

| Restaurants: |
|
A must-see for pizza lovers is Gino’s East. The home of deep dish pizza, it is an interesting stop. Unlike most pizzas, it is cooked in a deep pan, the cheese layered on top of the crust and then the sauce ladled over the top, making for a very messy but delicious pizza. The walls are adorned with signatures from movie stars and average people alike. Ask your waiter/waitress for a pen and do the same.

| Other recommendations: |
|
There are plenty of other places nearby to see. Milwaukee, Wisconsin is about 45 minutes north by car. Milwaukee has a large German-American population, so you can find some of the best beer and sausages (bratwurst for example) anywhere in the US in their restaurants.

yes, I really like Chicago, too - amongst many other reasons because of all these great music clubs + bars. Your reports confirms my experiences there - some more informations would improve it (in my opinion) to a 5* one. Thank you for sharing!!
