The Cham Island's are located in the Quang Nam Province of Vietnam. This Island was paradise, not many Tourist's, a real hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Hoi An.

Cham islands are supposed to be the first place where Cham people landed, coming to Quang Nam Province from Indonesia.
The island became one of the main port's of Champa Kingdom. Situated approx 20kms from Hoi An, the old city was a meeting point for international vessels and junks. According to archaeologists, Cu Lao Cham first settled here 3,000 years ago and established business contacts with external countries some 1,000 years ago.
The beaches here are gorgeous, isolated, quiet and beautiful!
I came here on a tour by normal boat which took about 2 and half hours.

Favourite spots:
Chong Beach

My favorite spot would have to be Chong Beach, a secluded Beach where we enjoyed our lunch in a Restaurant. It was tropical, with palms and a running stream and the gorgeous sandy beach, and the only people here, were out tour group and the few people working at the Restaurant.

Lunch was nice and enjoyed by all.
As the day was cold, after lunch, most of us went for a small walk, then spent our time relaxing on one of the recliners on the beach. It was too cold for swimming!

It certainly looked inviting to stay here, but remember, it is basic!
What a pretty little spot this was!!

What's really great:

What I liked, was that the village is small and still unspoilt. I thought it was lovely, I loved all the basket boats and watching a person operate one without falling in, to me was so clever! Then the locals all getting together to push a boat into the water. The local ferry arrived with supplies, and some more time was spent watching this being unloaded.

All very interesting!

Sights:

I went with the tour group to have a look at a Museum, which was good, then we trekked across some rice paddies to a Temple. On the way, we passed a lovely little sheltered cove where the boats sheltered from the weather.

After a look at the Temple, we returned to the main village where a very small market was being held, and after that, we could go and explore the village on our own.

Other recommendations:

We went out on the boat for snorkelling, but it was a bit cold and windy for most people. Onto another nice secluded cove, just our group for lunch and rest and recreation on a sandy beach with palm trees, this was so lovely!

Then it was time to return to the Boat, and head back to the mainland, where a bus took me back to my Hotel. I saw many fishermen and their fishing nets on the journey over and back.

A word of warning for the trip back.....

The wind had come up and the sea was very rough, so if you suffer from sea sickness, take some tablets with you.

Also, everybody was frozen, except for me, as I took a cardigan with me, and even that was not quite warm enough. There was nowhere to get away from the cold wind! Take something warm with you, even in warmer weather, as the return trip may be cold!
