Hua Hin and Hua Hin Hotels

  19 votes
Hua Hin is a few hours south of Bangkok by road, a relaxing beach area that although does not have the great picture postcard type beaches of the South does make for a relaxing place that is cheap and easy to get to from Bangkok

Hua Hin by Night
Hua Hin by Night
Hua Hin is much quieter than places like Phuket, Pattaya or Samui, but it isn't 'so' quiet. The beaches are not brilliant but there plenty of space and you can find quiet beaches areas close to town. In Hua Hin town itself plenty of markets, street stalls for food, restaurants, old style shops, lots of beer bars ( friendly and relaxed ) even a few disco pubs. Local Thai food and fast food, it's all there. Plenty of hotels in Hua Hin to choose from, budget hotels and guesthouses in Hua hin are priced from a few hundred baht upwards. There are plenty of luxury hotels in Hua Hin, many with their own spas, boutique hotels and guest house, nice Bed and Breakfast places too.

Favourite spots:
Hua Don Beach Khao Takiab Hua Hin
Hua Don Beach Khao Takiab Hua Hin
Khao Takiab Bay, miles of beach, quiet, but if you need a beach chair and umbrella and a cold drink or food it's there, you can take a boat ride to small offshore rocks, go fishing, jogging and cycling are popular, quite a few budget hotels plus nice guest houses and luxury hotels. Local bus takes you into Hua hin town in 10 minutes for a few cents. Very relaxing, some nice restaurants, I think much better than staying in the center of the town. You can wander around local temples, feed the monkeys, nice cool ocean breeze. Elephant rides near the beach, off road driving, simply great place to relax and have fun too.. if you want.

What's really great:
Hua Hin is a relaxed and stress free and hassle free place. You can have a great time in nice and friendly bars, huge range of excellent restaurants, nice quiet beach areas, friendly people, if you want a few days somewhere south of Bangkok on your way to or from Koh Tao or Koh Samui it's great for a stopover on the Gulf of Thailand coast, also as a destination itself. Tourism doesn't mean 'everything' to the place so it's tout and hassle free, yet it has pretty much everything you need. There are even wine growing areas and vineyards to visit. South of Hua Hin are some deserted sandy beaches alsong the Sunrise Coast. The Sam Roi Yot National Park is certainly worth a visit. There are temples around Hua Hin and also in Phetchaburi, about 50 minutes from Hua Hin, nearer from Cha Am. Bridwatching, wetlands, river boat cruises. A very pleasant and relaxing place to stay. Snorkeling is about 2 hours 30 minutes south of Hua Hin on Koh Talu Island. Day trips from Hua Hin to the River Kwai.

Sights:
Khao Takiab ( Chopstick Hill ), amazing views, temples.
Khao Takiab Bay, lovely relaxing place,
Khao Ki Tai for views, cycle past cattle grazing in the fields, a very serene area.

Accommodations:
Our last 2 visits to Hua Hin we stayed at the Coral Keys Guest house bungalows at Khao Takiab Bay Beach. We prefer to staying in hotels, although there are excellent Hua Hin hotels. Coral Keys are about B 1,400 to 2,850 a night, pleasant rooms, some bungalows have living rooms also, some can sleep a family. some with a private splash pool whilst others share a splash pool. With no more than 2 bungalows per splash pool they are good value. You have Color TV with Cable channels but also your own CD and DVD Player in the room, you can choose from a selection of Movies to watch or CD's to listen to, no charge, like it !

The beach which is very near, about 85 meters, they provide large beach towels. Good service, super breakfast, tea served in a pot, cereals, plus cooked breakfast all included, it was like staying in your very own beach house. Excellent seafood at the beach restaurants. Nice place to stay in Hua Hin if you prefer a cottage or bungalow instead of a Hua Hin hotel

Nightlife:
Hilton Brewery and Star Planet, both in the center of Hua Hin, both get very full at weekends.

Hangouts:
Sasi Bar and Restaurant near the Hyatt Regency Resorts, also just down from the Hua Hin Hilton there are lots of bars, drinks are cheap , fun and friendly.

Restaurants:
Hua Hin Fishing Pier area:
Oyster Pot
Chao Lay
Fishermans Wharf
Hua Hin Town Center:
Grappa
Sawadee
Khao Takiab Beach area:
Rua Rimtarn
La Mer
Uno's
Supatra by the Sea
The Rock Restaurants
Wora Bura Restaurants
Let's Sea

Other recommendations:
Deserted beaches just south of Hua Hin
Deserted beaches just south of Hua Hin
Suan Son Beach
Pranburi River and the Sam Roi Yot National Park

Hi Monica,
you remind me of my stay in Hua hin in a place owned by a princess, near the house of the king, who wasn't there, so I couldn't say hello to him. I liked the place.
