Mont-Dore travelogue picture
When we arrived to Mont-Dore, situated in the valley at the base of Puy-de-Sancy (Mountain 1885 m high) it was early a Sunday morning. The town was silent and we saw no-one except for the people having a coffee inside the closed ski-resort.

Favourite spots:

We walked the `main`street, which was charming with it`s new and delapidated houses. Most houses were covered with white plaster and decorated with wooden window frames. Carved lions and cement phone poles were accentuating the street. High above the town, we could see a waterfall, which we tried to photograph, but it was too far.

What's really great:
The information center was closed, and we had forgotten to pick-up some maps of the trails, at our previous stop in Clemont-Ferrand, which were suppose to be through the chain of mountains.

Sights:
The telepheric wasn`t working of course, but it seemed in good condition. In the winter, it is said that this area is often covered in many feet of snow. So if you come skiing, expect to be stuck here for a few days after a snow storm.
The mountain range all around was high and rugged. I wish we had had time to walk some of the trails, although they seemed challenging. I`m sure one would have great views of the plains and the rest of the chains of mountains from atop Le Puy-De-Sancy.

Accommodations:

This area is known for it`s great skiing in winter, although we did see many resort-like-cabins amiss the mountains, I have no information about accomodation in this area.

I love th picture of the lamppost. Ordinary objects are interesting for pictures, I find. The other day I took quite a few of power pylons. I had them enlarged and they look wonderful. Did you read my message to you IGO?
