Peregrination in Zagros, from Shiraz to Esfahan...

From July 30 to August 9 2010, I decided at last to go and see the marvellous blue domes of Persia and to meet its so often appreciated inhabitants. This report is an introduction to a serie of articles I'm gonna write about my wandering throughout Zagros

Nomads' hospitality
Nomads' hospitality
Initial objective :

At first my goal was to follow the steps of the French author Pierre LOTI who went there at the beginning of the 20th century, landing in Bushehr (coming by boat from India) then moving to Esfahan via Shiraz.

As my days for this first reconnaissance trip were counted, I decided to take a plane directly to Shiraz, then to reach Esfahan after a week discovering the Zagros mountains area between the two.

Lucky encounter :

My big luck was to get contact with Bagher (Shervin19) and Farnaz on Globo. Together with Bagher we organized and lived some 10 days I will remember forever.

Favourite spots:
Qashqais'wedding

My following reports will deal with :
- shifting airports in Tehran to go to Shiraz as well as getting the 2 weeks tourist visa at Tehran's airport,
- my point of view on the best trip to make to spend one week or ten days from Shiraz to Esfahan,
- cartography to use both for roadmaps but also topography for hiking and so on,
- hospitality from Iranian people, especially Qashqais originated tribes (still nomads or settled),
- Qashqais wedding I had the big luck to be part of,
- my vision of woman in Iran, far from often western preconceived opinions,
- hiking (or mountain cycling) in the Zagros (and all Iran) mountains, as well as swimming/canyoning in gorges,
- food and drinks (so good),
- sleeping in tents,
- just a fiew things about Shiraz and Esfahan as so much is already available...

What's really great:
Bagher (shervin19) and I, Esfahan

All this is dedicated to my new brother Bagher, and all his family, relatives and friends that provided me with the warmest possible welcome. Keep on going buddy!
