A homy place to stay in Solo

  5 votes
a family house that can be rent for short and long stay, within walking distance from train station, surrounded by places to eat, 10 minutes from the main street, Slamet Riyadi

A family of friend owns a house in Solo with two bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen and a garage. Since they rarely visit the house, they lease the house for tourist. It's 15 minutes on foot from Balapan train station. What I like best is the market near the house. It's called Pasar Nangka if I'm not mistaken. It sells traditional snacks and fresh fruits and you can walk there. Actually you can walk everywhere (if you can stand the heat :D) because it's within walking distance from everywhere or ride a pedicab. Visit the Kraton and Klewer market which are only 10-15 minutes by pedicab. you can call Fauzi at +62852-937-87681 if you want to rent the place without booking it in advance or you can call the owner at +62813-1012-8211

Favourite spots:
Triwindu flea market, Nasi liwet mbah Lemu (?), timlo SOlo pak Sastro in pasar Gede

What's really great:
the delicious, various and unique food, the laid back atmosphere of the city, the hospitality of the people who live there

Accommodations:
For 3-star and up hotels : Along the main street Slamet Riyadi, you can find Novotel hotel and as you turn left, you can find Sahid hotel.

For a unique experience, you might want to try Brongto or rumah Laweyan if I'm not mistaken.

But if you travel in groups, you might want to stay my friend's house.

Restaurants:
There are so many places to eat

For fried noodle and chinese food try Warung Kita.

This would be better posted as a tip, rather than a report.
