Tunisia is a beautiful country and Sousse is a great place to be.
I absolutely agree when you sayin the What's really great section:
the hot sweet wind and the different culture , different religion , beautiful desert....
But there is no desert anywhere near Sousse. You will have to go to the south of Tunisia to see the desert.
