A small gathering of farms and houses, not really a town in any sense, Uvita has an excellent beach, the Marina Ballena National Park (as name indicates mostly under water, apparently good for snorkelling), quite a few guesthouses and cabinas and some decent restaurants and sodas.

| Favourite spots: |
The beach inside the national park. Long, wide, plenty of palms, waves but not too many of them and space, space, space...had like five miles to ourselves.
| What's really great: |
Swimming, rainforesthiking, the local waterfall la Catarata, although not really impressive as a waterfall, its beautiful up there and excellent for swimming.

| Sights: |
Waterfall, beach and rainforest. That´s about it. There are horse tours offered, which will take you further up the mountains and into the forrests.

| Nightlife: |
Non-existing.
| Hangouts: |
Sodas...like small cafes with beer as well...exist, no pubs in the traditional sense.
| Restaurants: |
Saw three of them, tried only one - El Viajero, right by the bus stop, very good, inexpensive food, nice people, extremely slow service.
| Other recommendations: |
To get there from San Jose, either bus through Quepos and Dominical, about seven hours, two or three times a day each way. Or via San Isidro and Dominical, about 5-6 hours, more difficult to connect.
