Dear All,I have a dig camera with 6mega pix,and the size of file I get from it is usually more than 2Mb ,and I can upload the pic of max size of 500Kb only, what i do is use the MS Paint and compress it to a document size ,but by doing this I feel the picture looks blurr and faded, can any one suggest some more ideas so that ,the quality of pictures doesnt affect by compressing it.

what i do is using software and resize the pic. there is a lot of software and i dont want to lead you to a name, but acd fotocanvas is an easy one.

I ues MGI Photosuite.

By making a minor trim of the picture and re-saving it I find that the size of file reduces by about two thirds without loss of sharpness.

I do not know enough about the technology to explain why it works

Hi Ravi

Thanks for bringing this issue up for discussion.

Some of the relevant points are already answered in the forum:

http://www.globosapiens.net/topic-size-of-the-pictures_34_613_0000.html

http://www.globosapiens.net/topic-scanning--uploading-pictures_46_1239_0000.html

As for concrete tips on how to do it with your software we would need some more detailed information on your items.

In my opinion there are far better products than ms paint for optimizing your pictures in order to post them here.

But first of all, could you state the following items:

- Brand and Model of the Camera you use

- Operating System and version of the computer you use

- Version of Ms Paint

- File type

- Other available picture editing software (normally something came with your camera)

Then it would be a lot easier to give you concrete help.

Have a great day

Hi There

Inspired by ravis question I did a quick tour on the net to search for great freeware for picture editing and found out about google's picasa...

picasa.google.com

I downloaded and installed it and must say that it looks great, there are some very nice features that help you with a lot of problems.

Hope it helps

I use Adobe Photoshop and shrink the size of the photo, either by percentage or by pixel size. Sometimes I have to edit a picture two or three times to get a resolution I'm happy with and that looks great. I also trim anything that might be extraneous to the photo itself, like extra sky/ground, people, etc.

Hi Ravi,

I recommend you Picasa as Mortimer said, you can control your albums easily and use the effects to fix the lighting problems with your pics and free of charge course..

Hi Ravi

The file size is depending on the picture size so use your picture editing software to make the picture smaller.

When resizing the picture to perhaps 600 or 700 pixel you should arrive at a file size below the 500kb.

If you still have problems you can try to decrese the dpi number.

Have you tried out the software that came with your camera or the one I suggested.

the link to picase once again:

http://picasa.google.com/

I always keep the large files for storage on my computer and only resize those pcitures I want to upload on globo. Therefore I create a folder with those pictures and then I click on export. Thats when I'm asked in what size I like to export the pics. there you can try the 700 pixel size.

I also think that when you click on an image in the windows explorer with the right mouse button you'll get a resize function in the context menu... But I'm not sure about this as I don't have windows xp. I just remember that somebody pointed this out in another topic.

Hope it helps
