But what happens - when I logged on after weekend I saw on the front page that is 298 new pictures. Most of members probably don't have time or willing to rate / see them all. Moreover you can see only 50 latest pictures on the front page so if you missed this one before - you don't know who posted which pictures. It is pity because (for me) comments and ratings are priceless. btw your pictures are great. I still have unrated pics I uploaded more than a week ago. Frankly speaking, I do not rate pictures very often - usually I do it only if I particularly like something or dislike something very much. When I feel like giving 3* I usually don't vote at all. I almost always vote when leaving a comment. I'd like to become a more active voter, but recently I haven't had too much time, unfortunately. I'm happy to find a few minutes a day only to upload some pics and share my travel experiences with other Globies. I have been flooding Globo with all sorts of material, hence overwhelming members. And I am not a very good rater, either. Like Adam, I tend to rate when I really like a photo. Then I gave up because members were uploading almost identical pictures to gain points! I am willing to continue rating if the un-rated list is eliminated. There are currently 2878 unrated pictures. If ten of us rated 20 extra pictures a day we will be through the list within two weeks. http://www.globosapiens.net/gallery/pics-3000.html Please help! PS: if you find two photos almost identical rate the first or best well and the other one-star* with a note "Double" or "This image is uploaded twice. See also [URL]" If you would like to check your own gallery for doubles to delete some, use "sort by date uploaded" or "sort by date taken" in your gallery. I deleted, I think three duplicates. There are few very similar ones in my gallery - I thought about them and decided to leave them in, as they are well composed in the idea of the albums I put them in... I will try to rate some photos in a few days, but I am not bothered if mine are unrated. I do not post photos for the sake of rating. I post them to build up my travel page for my friends and family to see. I am also very glad to share the views of the world that I had enjoyed! We are winning :-) Krys, ask your family and friends how many of your 3600 images they have really looked at. I found the interest in material is most effective if only the best are uploaded. I have a lot of my 2. choice images on hard-disk or at image-hosting websites. I cannot repeat often enough how important rating is to the community. It is only after about 10 ratings (ten reviews) that material finds itself in the right place, ie the best is shown first and the worst is hidden at the bottom. Is is a "beautification" method! And I found differences in opinion. Well, the main difference is between my friends/family and me. They want to see more pictures and more albums. Particularly albums! And with albums, the composition is important, and it often it makes sense to show an object (be it scenery or a piece of architecture) from different angles, which on individual basis may seem repetitive. The trick is that they would want my photos to be rated - as high as possible, obviously. I, however, do not submit photos for the sake of rating. And this is where I differ with my friends/family. I do not care whether my pictures remain unrated or not. I do not treat this as a competition. Of course, it is so great to be rewarded with POMs and AOMs, but the purpose of me submitting these shots is to share. That's it. I can also a share a secret here... I have taken about 500,000 photos on my travels, and it is a difficult choice what to submit. And I only select photographs, which in my opinion are at least four star quality... ;) No, really! I rate fairly according to the base rules: 5* for a potential publication cover-photo and 4* for a photo good enough for publication and even 3* is "wow"... I have found quite a few absolute gems that were hidden for many years. Truth and sad is that if a picture is not rated, it is considered as ZERO and appears at the bottom of all searches and lists :-(... Please rate too, a true "democratic" rating is reached after 5+ ratings. Further, rating is important so that our BEST content appears FIRST in searches and lists. I cannot judge alone! Please contact me if there are any issues about grading/rating of content at GLOBO.
