Hi Amanda

Well there are a lot things to consider when choosing the "perfect" camera for your needs, if ever you will find it.

The Panasonic sounds quite good, I had another look at some more information and found those two cameras interesting too: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 (6mp) and the Canon Powershot S2 IS

As I have a canon (powershot g6) myself I might be inclined to like the canon. What I like with the canon is the hinged lcd screen which makes shots from unusual angels a lot esier. Or when standing in a crowd you can lift up the camera over your head and turn the screen that you can see point and shoot...

I think 5Mp should be enough to get acceptable results when printing Pictures in the common size. If you want to make them larger you will loose some quality. But you will loose less quality than when you have to crop from a 3x telephoto shot at 8mp...

Hope it helps

Martin

Marting, just one more thing?

Do you use filters with your camera or is it just by using the differnt scene selection, you avoid bleaching, etc. I was thinking that a polarising filter might be handy. What do you think?

Sorry to keep on bugging you!

Hi Amanda

I do use a polarization filter on my analog SLR Camera most of the times. On the digital I don't have one.

The Pol Filter also reduces the amount of light that passes thorugh the lens therefore is for low light situations not very helpful.

hope it helps

Hello Amanda,

you may check sony dsc h5, it has zoom property while in movie mode, also canon s3 has the same but it needs four batteries at the same time, you had better to read the previews that mortimer mentioned about, take care..

Burak,

Thanks for your suggestion, after visiting a few shops and testing them, I opted for a FZ7. It just felt right. I bought it over the internet and ended up paying £70 less than the RRP. So I'm happy, I now can't wait to start taking pictures again.

Thanks though,

Amanda
