The flight to Hong Kong was beautiful (I love Business Class I don't think I want to go back to peasant class!). The Grand Hyatt was the most luxurious hotel, very flash, pity I was only there for a night and didn't get a chance to give it a real working out. Shanghai is very large and noisy and smoggy and loud (kind of like being back in LA!). It's an amazing city though.
I'm a demon with the chopsticks now! The food here is great but you really need to be with the locals to find the good stuff. It would be pretty difficult travelling around here as very few people speak any English outside the Hotel and Financial Districts but it is pretty amazing. I walked past a group of school children yesterday and they where fascinated by my looks. Have you ever seen the Fritz Lang movie "Metropolis" (I think that's what it's called). It's an old science fiction movie shot in B&W. Shanghai reminds me a lot of this, there are all these really unusual space age looking buildings.Tonight I may be going to the Australian Embassy for Happy Hour with one of the expats which should be good. Tomorrow I am going to a place called Sujo which is apparently very old and beautiful (hopefully I have the use of one of the company cars and a driver I think) and then I leave on Sunday back to Australia via a seven hour stopover in Hong Kong (I can catch up on all my homework which I was supposed to have done!).
Well gotta get going now and have a swim in the hotel pool, I'm staying at the Hilton, very posh! Everything is very cheap here, I just had lunch for about $2 Australian (about $1.40 US)
