after Sitangkai at the far southern end of the Philippines we spend another 4 fabulous days in Tawi Tawi. Unfortunately the security situation is very much influenced by the neighboring islands of Jolo end Basilan. after 2 kidnappings withing 3 days we have daily meetings with local authorities.
Tomorrow we we leave the region to the visayan islands.
we found many new friends here and feel sad for the leave.

after 12 hours on a scary looking boat we returned to Bongao this morning at 0400.
we got introduced to lots of important people aware about our security. we got already used to it having 2 machine gun armed guys wlaking behind us. generally saying its a peaceful place with potential to develop. Malaysia coast is close, as its tourists paradise sipadan island

03.30 wake up call! to early to joke around but due to jet lag its not that difficult either. taxi to airport, boarding at 05:15. Arrival to Zambo at 07:00 since our last visit in 1992.
the only foreigner on board but probably not in town. people are very welcoming, they are not much used to visitors

arrived to Manila after long flight via Hongkong. My last visit was 2006 and not much has changed - its definately not a city to fall in love with.
my bag was left there and arrives on next flight. weather is better than expected but so humid. 35degr and partly sunny. arranging all necessary for our departure to Mandanao, the most southern province of Philippines

Went up this morning at 5 (as almost every morning) after the essential milk tea I walked out of town towards a tiny waterfall. from there a trail ascents approx 1000m up to the mountains. down from the road I always recognize farm houses up there and was curious about. Is quite and peacefull up there up drinking water and the sun is limiting my enthusiasm. on my way down my waterbottle became so hot nearly impossible to touch except the plastic closure. sun was burning dangerously on my heat and arms. the last 5 km I was really running (passing people been wondering abou the crazy foreigners once more) to return in shady places...

After a week in the mountains, visiting Yamunotri and Gangotri I return back to Riskikesh one hour ago.
Its hot here - probably not as in Delhi but, ooooh...
after setting up my equipment and a nice shower I got myself in shape again.
