Hey,
So although I'm already two weeks into my trip, I've only learned of this web journal thing now. Man, I'm slow to pick up on things!
It's Thursday, and my last work day of the week. I'm bussing it to the Tioman Islands tonight with the rest of the crew from my UofL foreign work term. The school has actually arranged this particular weekend trip. Apparently it's at a four star hotel and even the food is included. I'd love to pretend that I'm one of those hardcore backpackers, eating berries and squirrel meat. I hunt for tall lattes and air conditioning. I've had the best time living it up in nice lodgings and enjoying the finer restaurants. I guess I've attempted to do a bit of rough and tumble travel, in between resort stints. I want to see both sides and can afford to do such.
Anywho, for those of you I haven't seen in awhile, or don't know. I'm working for a local online newspaper in Malaysia for six weeks. About two weeks ago I met my fellow travel mates for the first time at the airport. Two days later we were crying in each other's arms and discussing diarrhea issues.
There are some pretty distinct personalities on this trip, including my own. Having spent our first 4-5 days in close quarters together, things got a little intense. Now that we've all been working awhile and are having experiences independant of those around us, I think we've made peace with eachother. It feels a bit like a reality series. Fifteen students on this trip together in intense and unusual circumstances. No one's been voted off yet.
