Brighton, on England's West Sussex coast, is a vibrant, dynamic place, often called London-by-the-Sea, not only because a lot of media types have decided to relocate to the seaside, but also because it has got its own thriving entertainment scene. There are hundreds of restaurants, clubs and cafes. The hugely popular Brighton Festival happens in May with the best that Theatre, Dance, Classical and Popular Music, Film, Literature has to offer.
The shopping, especially in 'The Lanes' (narrow alleyways in the old town), is fantastic, with many unique shops offering arts and crafts.
Visit the Royal Pavillion to step back in history and marvel at the sheer opulence of the place.
