Nicknamed "The Big Easy" and the birthplace of Jazz, New Orleans is truely a permanent party place and certainly the world's number one pub-crawlers attraction. Louisiana was once a French Colony, claimed in 1699 and purchased with dollars (like Alaska) by the States in 1803. The french culture remains, some still speak french and the language dominates the city through the names of streets and locations. Architecture, art and entertainment well preserved, makes a unique experience for travellers. New Orleans's main attraction is the Mardi Grass in February, perhaps the best party after Rio, the most spectacular of carnivals. Bourbon Street is the main scene and location of well decorated and cheerfull pubs. [edit text][editors]
