Not only an outstanding example of a science and industry museum, it includes the building [in situ] of the Liverpool Road Station, the world's first commercial passenger line. There are power galleries and an underground display of Manchester's water supply and sewerage over the ages.
The old Roman fort is almost adjacent, as is the canal basin where the Rochdale meets the Bridgewater.
