El Mirador Basin Preserve - Guatemala, Petén La Danta, the world's largest pyramid by volume, is a traditional Pre-Classic Mayan pyramid. Dated to 400 BC, it is built with three succeeding platforms, each with a temple on either side, an altar to the earth/sky in the middle and the continuation up the main structure in the rear center. This is one of the two temples on the uppermost level.
