hi marianne, martin
i agree that the travel pics posted should relate to the place of travel and i am ok with your suggestion on picture rating, tho' i personally follow the rating as suggested by rudi every time i look at a pic.
i personally feel that member's private or family pics should not be posted and if they are, perhaps at the travellog or perhaps andy can create a separate category where one can upload up to 40 private or family pics and only to be accessed by prior approval being granted by way of a secret password.
hope that helps!

Apology for delay in responding
Marianne's guidelines are perfect for me: I will have no difficulty in using them for the future. I have read all the other suggestions with deep interest and have benefited from them.
Rudi's point about personal opinion is very important- opinions are not lacking in merit just because i am not an expert. Almost by definition, experts are always a minority. --- Hugh

Hi All,
I'm also in agreement of having guidelines. The way it stands now members can upload any picture they chose, whether its travel related or personal. As far as I can remember there is now where when signing up to be a member it says ‘no personal pictures’ (I could be wrong). But they are only guidelines and we could choose to ignore them or which I sincerely hope, use them as a personal critic of what pictures should be uploaded.
The way I see it, it can only enhance the site.

Amanda,
When Globo started, Andy supervised the quality of the photos himself. If he did not approve he would send a message telling so. But Globo has grown and Andy is no longer able to do so.

I agree with these guidelines, but I would add that personal pictures don't even belong in the travellog section. I can see adding a picture of yourself in front of the Statue of Liberty, but pictures of pets, homes and such don't really belong on this website. Get a free website at Geocities if you want that stuff on the net (I know I have one).
It may sound harsh, but this is a travel website not a data storage website...I wouldn't log onto a website about pets and post my pictures of the Eiffel Tower, so why should people do that here? --- "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness." – Mark Twain

Fraud!!
i have just experienced the rough edge of the new protection software. A picture from Sakhalin because of a succinct title (full of historical information)attracted from me an out of range rating. Could the response please do without the word fraud? --- Hugh
