Hi fellow seniors,
I am searching for an eglish term or an inveted word that could be used to send a short message to the members you want. A button to nuge him/her. Could this be "nudge" after searching for a while for a word this is my top word for now. However I am not sure how this sounds to a native speaker. Maybe somebody has another suggestion? It does not neccessary have to be in a dictionary (that would even be better!), it just has to sound need and to fit its purpose.
How to you like: "Nudge andreas", "Nudge marianne" etc. ?
Here is a short dictionary entry:

Thank you for your feedback.
Best regards,
Andy

A "nudge" could be both good or bad, usually annoying! Some websites use the romantic function "wink" but more then for contact. Other sites use "join network" similar to GLOBOs already "friends" function. Yet other websites choose to say "cheer this entry" or "CHEER THIS USER"
My suggestion: "Shout Hurrah!" (or hurray) for exceptional material or members or "wisper well done" if one wishes....
We could become the first website that allows all of the above options including, some sites have, "report this user" or "block this user"? The buttons are used on a lot of websites sothat webmasters and members are made aware of particularly good quality or community --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

Andy, I am not sure about nudge. As Rudi says it often has a negative meaning. Do you need a word that expresses: a slight tap on the virtual shoulder to activate this member? or just another word for 'contact' Sorry, I haven't got an answer, but will be thinking about a suitable word. Hi everybody,
I am searching for a need word that you could use to name a function that allows other members to send the member they want a short "message" with a meening like "hey , I like you what are you up to right now?". Other communities use for example "gruscheln" (artificial word) , or "poke". Something to say "hi". A need guesture.
That's why I cam to nudge.
Any ideas?
Regards,
andy

Suggestions:
howdy
meaning hello / how are you.
high-five
a gesture of greeting when one person slaps the upraised palm of the hand against that of another. [ This Message was edited by: marianne on 2007-11-27 15:56 ] --- “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” Robert Louis Stevenson

Andy, I don't really like nudge for the reasons given by others. However I have studied a number of online thesauri and have reached the sad conclusion that there isn't a single English word to match your intended meaning. An adverb such as 'gently' would need to be added.
If it has to be a single word, I think 'tap' or even 'approach' would be better than nudge - but, I repeat, neither is quite what you want. --- Grieve not for that which you cannot do but rejoice in that which you can.

Hello everybody,
high-five is a great idea!! A button that would allow members to chear another one with a e.g. "high-five marianne" button. A short guesture of "I like what you are doing!". That activity could show up in the members profile to indicate the others that for example andy high-fives what marianne does.
A downside I do see is in generall you high-five somebody if you had a participation within his result. Something like "we've done a great job". But this is not what I want. To bad you guys do not like nudge. I like the sound of it :-) I believe the word should sound good and need.
Any further suggestions?
Best regards,
andy

One thesaurus suggests 'brush.' One meaning of the word is just to touch lightly against but of course the best known meaning is about cleaning or scrubbing. --- Grieve not for that which you cannot do but rejoice in that which you can.

So you rather think of a clap on the shoulder or the bright little star under the expose that the teacher sticks next to the a grade...
