The hotel, which I chose, the Baba Palace Hotel, on the outskirts of the town, charged from CFA10,000 to CFA40,000. The rooms up to CFA40,000 were no different from one another. The most expensive ones (those for CFA40,000) were good size round houses with a large lounge, really large bedroom and sizeable bathroom. But there was no running water, so after all that dirt road running, all I had was a bucket shower. A few actually! The electricity was also a problem at this hotel, so I could not give it three thumbs. If all worked well, it would have been a top notch accommodation option. The garden where the huts were located was lovely and the round restaurant at one end of it was spectacular in terms of the architecture.
The staff were very helpful, carried buckets of water for the showers, cared for the garden and cleaned the rooms very well. The sheets were clean and the bathrooms were well scrubbed. The only drawback was that the hotel was really out of town, near Yaounde depot.
