Fascinating Façades 2's by marianne

Prague - Czech Republic, Hlavni Mesto Praha When in Prague it is essential to look up at the façades because many are richly decorated. This neo-renaissance building is no exception. It was designed by Antonín Wiehl (a famous architect of other Prague buildings like the one at# 34 Wenceslas Square). This sgraffiti is the work of the Czeck painter Mikoláš Aleš. Sgraffiti is a technique in which the wall is decorated with a layer of plaster. The top layer has patterns scratched into it, revealing the different-coloured layer beneath. The house is situated at the corner of Skořepka and Jilska Street.
