Escher in het Paleis |
|
|
This museum houses in a true palace and is in a beautiful location. Het Lange Voorhout is a stately avenue and the palace was once the winter residence of Queen Emma, the great-grandmother of the Dutch Queen Beatrix
The palace doesn't look like a palace at all beacuse it is a teraaced house, which means there are neighbours living on both sides
Escher's works are famous. Water that flows up, fish that change into birds, an ascending staitcase that ends downstairs,. He is the master of optical illusions. Also earlier works are on show, Italian landscapes and bizarre still lives
The Escher Museum is not a traditional mueum. It is a discovery journey of Escher's works of art. A real journey through his works because you will travel with electronic glasses and a helmet. Quite an experience
Finally you can upset all proportions and take photos of yourself either as a giant or a dwarf to make your confusion complete
