FRANS HALS MUSEUM is housed in a former Old men's Home and furnished with 17th cent period furniture, sturdy oak tables, glass cabinets brimming with silver and ceremic figurines.
Frand Hals Museum specializes in 16th and 17th cent Dutch paintings; from portraits to city sea and landscapes and scenes from daily life. There are portraits of governors in full regalia and still lives with and without fish.
An interesting painting is A Weavers' Workplace because it shows a slice of daily life in one of the many weavers'families that used to live in Haarlem.
Frans Hals, Dutch portrait painter, is also represented. twelve of his works are on display. Frans hals is the second most famous painter in the Netherlands (Rembrandt is the undisputed no 1)
