****************
Fries Museum specializes in archeological finds from Frisian villages. These villages were built on knolls which are good finding places for ancient objects.
The museum also has a permanent exhibition of Mata Hari,. She was born in Friesland, acted as a double agent in WWI and was executed even though there was no concrete evidence.
The museum has a collection of stately portraits of 17 and 18th cent. prominent persons. It has the second largest collection (in the Netherlands) of silver showpieces, most of them typical of the province of Friesland
The museum has a special collection area for children. Helped by the curator they can set up their own exhibition of their collection of Dinky Toys, telephone cards, Barbie dolls or anything they collect.
