Photo Negative Scanner

Hi Matt,
Sorry to hear of all that tough physiotherapy that you are going through – but it has to be worth it, to get out of that bloody wheelchair forever and, get out travelling again! Now you have the chance to write away and inspire yourself for future trips. I’m with you though – a Globo article without photos leaves the canvas only half painted. They all tell us that one picture is worth a thousand words and I really admire the handful of professional travel writers who can paint a masterpiece with words only! In reality, you only receive a few Globo report stars for your written efforts, without adding any pictures!
I have nearly 40 years of travel pictures (I can hear fellow Globo’s yawns!). Like you loads of those photos were taken with old cameras including 35mm equipment. They are now festering in either albums or carrier bags that never get looked at. Thankfully, I still have the negatives. Whilst my HP Officejet scanners software handles the photo prints it won’t accept the negatives. I have been looking to add a decent negative scanner, as cheap as possible, to digitise the pictures to my computer.
The excellent UK magazine “Computer Active” (£1.35 from newsagents) www.computeractive.co.uk had a recent feature reviewing scanners capable of also scanning negatives. The one that I am looking at is the Cannon 3200F Film Scanner at £63.99 inc VAT (£54.46 ex VAT) it has a Film Adaptor Unit (FAU) which allows scanning of 35mm negatives and slides.
I think this may suit your purposes and quite cheaply too.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Brit
