China in July

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. However, if I managed to go, I will have no choice. The total eclipse of the Sun will not change its happening because of me... ;)
Kind regards

History in context
Posted: 2008-10-27 10:36 AM
Hi Yuliang! Xie xie for writing in my guestbook. It's too bad we didn't know each other when you visited Chiba -- we could have had a beer together! Your idea of being a Chinese Marco Polo is a great one, and it would be a pleasure to sit and swap travel stories some day.
Regarding Japan's history (which has 2 versions, depending on whether you talk to a Japanese, or to anybody else on the planet), I can understand very well why the Chinese and Koreans still harbor ill will towards the country. So would I, given the fact that your average Japanese university student has zero idea of what their country did during the occupations abroad. But as you and I have both experienced, travel takes the edge off the bad feelings, as new generations learn to get along, talk about the past, and then move on.
Anyway, some day, somewhere on the planet, we'll do beers! lol

Hi Yuliang
Sorry, I did not answer to your message, I have been busy these days.
Yes, I studied Chinese in Taipei during several months and then travelled during half a year around China. But I do not have much practice and I am losing it, what is a pity because I am in love with Chinese language and philosophy (and also food!).
I am sending you a request to be my friend. You just confirm it and our friendship will appear in Globo.
No, I am not a top traveller in Globo. Amanda (Mistybleu) is number one with almost 36.000 points. I am the fifth with about 27.000. But I do not care about the points. I am in Globo for fun, to learn from other travellers and to share my experience. In quality, I consider Wojciech Dabrowski to be the best in Globo.
Take care
Jorge

Language ...
Posted: 2008-10-26 03:47 PM
Hi Yuliang,
English is one of the weakest languages on this planet to express feelings. This is perhaps due to the fact that for centuries, it was discouraged to express one's feelings openly. Hence there is an expression - 'stiff upper lip', which is so stereotypical for the English.
You really write well, by the way!
Kind regards
