Hi Tony,

Chinese currency symbol is CNY.
It is now approx. 11 CNY = 1 GBP, 10 CNY = 1 EUR

The duck would have been good, if it didn't contain so many bones! I should probably just stick to Peking duck, which I will definitely have in Peking.

Many thanks indeed for your entries to my guest book and your many encouraging words. 

Yes, I had to be flexible in mind, body and soul on this trip to PRC in order not to flip out on a number of occasions. I love adrenaline though, and I do treat this as an adventure. Nevertheless, I am still, I think, struggling with the understanding of the 'culture' here, like the apparent lack of respect for others and their work, some of which materialises in the violation of copyrights en masse.

I was not planning to come back to PRC  for a long while, but I might jump on a flight to Chengdu as soon as practical and affordable for a tour in Tibet!

Yesterday, I saw a few happy panda cubs playing around, which improved my mood a little. And I took a few pictures, some of which came out nice -another boost of happiness for me!

Today, I am off to the former capital of China, Nanjing, which I heard was really interesting.

Hi Tony,

Yes, tomorrow afternoon I am due to leave for my holiday to China. Planning of this trip has not been without its challenges and I still have certain issues around the bit in Tibet. So, in normal circumstances I would have been more excited to leave than I am at the moment, and it has been a year since I went on a proper holiday... eh.

Hi Tony,

Venice is truly spectacular. When I spoke about the city with a friend, who had never heard about it (yes, yes - there are still people around, who have not been around...), he was shocked to hear how the city was built and that even today vessels replace cars for transportation.

I wanted to see the palace inside myself, but the queue was just too long, and I am not a museum person that much anyway...

hi, Tony. dont believe them! they just want to keep themselve without troubles, becuase they have to start working when you get lost. (and these departments likes it to be without work, if it would be possible they would also restrict spain and italy because of heave theft crimes...hehehe)
the same recommendations from our german ministry...
this area is probably one of the savest regions in the entire country. If you like to go there, I can advise you guides to organize everything. Or you can hire me :-)
