Goreme - The Apple Church's by siffer

Goreme - Turkey, Nev¶ehir One of the smallest and most brightly colored churches in the Goreme Open Air Museum, the Apple Church derives its name from the painting of St. Michael Archangel who holds a pale grey orb in his left hand. The fact is that the globe does not resemble an apple in shape or color. Some historians believe the name derives from a nearby apple tree. The image is placed sideways to accomodate the requirements of this site. To the left, archways with paintings of saints and bishops, to the right the deesis partially included.
