Istanbul - Turkey, Istanbul Probably the oldest structure built expressly for the Hippodrome, it is located an one end of Sultan Ahmed Square, but is centrally located for the original Hippodrome. Almost 100 feet high, it was originally covered in bronze plates dedicated to Emperor Basilius, the bronze was looted by the 4th Crusade leaving behind the natural stone construction.
