Istanbul - Turkey, Istanbul Cistern architecture is simple, an arched roof supported by huge columns. This cistern has 330 30ft high marble columns, salvaged from other sites - some are doric, some corinthian, and some comprised of fragments of differing color. Brick walls are five feet thick.
For today's visitors a network of elevated wooden walkways are threaded between the columns. There is a small cafe and concerts are offered as well - great venue.
