The Hungarian capital is an excellent place for a trip. It has so many attractions that you can spend there a few days and still you won't see everything.
|
City is located over the Danube River which is an backbone of the city. On the left side is Pest, on the right side of the Danube we will find Buda. Others interesting places are: Margaret Island - located in the middle of Danube, Obuda - the oldest part of the city, which is mix of the styles comunist buildings, and old charmings houses, Aquincum - remains of the roman settelment. 30 minutes by train you can reach Sentendre - charming Serbian city. Main street is Andrassy ut. reaching the Millenium monument and Square of the heroes. For the coffe the best street is Vaci utca.

Other recommendations: |
Take a ride with subway line A. It is the oldest subway line in Continental Europe. Was built in 1896 and the metro stations are in old style, but all refreshed.
Take a bath in thermal baths. The range is huge - outside (Szechenyi baths), luxury (f.e in Gellert hotel) and old turkish style (Rudas)

A good list of things to do in Budapest, lots of info. I didn't have time to go to Szentendre - have you got more pictures from this town? My favourite places in Budapest were Fishermen's Bastions, Gellert Hill and Margaret's Island. However, I still have to return there to try their baths. Have you tried them? |
