In Creel is a great base town to see the Copper Canyon, Cascada Bassaceachi, and the Tarahumara Indians. In the morning tour buses line up in the town zocalo and there is a fixed price for each tour that leaves divided among the number of people on tour.

Favourite spots: |
Cascada Bassaceachi was my favorite spot . The waterfall area is in a great canyon for hiking. The canyon although smaller than nearby Copper Canyon has more beautiful colors

What's really great: |
Hiking around the town is also very nice. There is a large Jesus statue on a mountain overlooking the town.

|
Sights: |
There is a good day tour which goes to a Spanish Mission, two waterfalls, and a Tarahumara cave dwelling.

Accommodations: |
I arrived at night by bus during a festival and all the places in the travel guides were full (except a luxury hotel). I let some teenagers find me aplace to stay in a private home willing to let me sleep on a cot in their living room for the night, and then I could rent a room in back for the nights after that.
I visited the main hostel in called Momma's. It seemed very small, cramped, and noisy. Very popular with young crowd and with active social scene

Restaurants: |
There are quite a number of small inexpensive restuarants as well as some more expensive atmospheric restuarants.

|
Other recommendations: |
The Copper Canyon train can be caught here, or you can take a minibus tour to see some of the canyon from the main overlook.
