The prefecture of Halkidiki is consisted from the following three peninsulas: 1) Kassandra is the most western peninsula of Halkidiki's trident. It is one of the most famous places in Halkidiki with a particular development towards tourism, displaying a lot concerning the cultural and tourist field. It is a heavenly and peaceful place, with immense sandy beaches and pine-clad locations that reach the aquamarine sea. The beautiful locations seem as if no one has ever stepped on their pure ground, with the dense vegetation and the clear waters heading for a glorious unification. The development of tourism has forwarded the creation of very well organized facilities, luxury hotels and plenty of entertainment centers that provide a wonderful environment for vacationing to weekend travelers from Greece but also tourists from all over the world that gather to witness true Greek natural beauty. 2)Sithonia is the middle peninsula of Halkidiki and its beauty is similar to that of the Kassandra peninsula. While on a tour in Sithonia you can admire endless majestic landscapes, picturesque little harbors, wonderful golden beaches, secluded bays next to olive plantations, lovely meadows and deep green forests, peaceful fishers' villages and also the amazing architecture of houses and churches. Only in Halkidiki you can admire glorious beaches with the perfect combination of green and blue as when the wind gently blows the pine trees meet the waves. All the areas such as Vatopedi, Metamorphossi, Nikiti, Agios Nikolaos, Pirgadikia, Sarti, Neos Marmaras, Vourvourou, Ormos Panagias and Sikia will remain deep in your memories. images from the folk architecture of the houses in Ormylia, the wonderful piney beaches of Nikiti and Metamorphossi, the narrow alleys and the flowery squares in Agios Nikolaos and the insular features of Pyrgadikia, Vourvourou and Ormos Panagias. 3) Mount Athos the Monks Republic and Ouranoupolis…www.goh-alkidiki.com

OURANOUPOLIS--On the top of the Mount Athos peninsula and at a distance of 120km away from the airport of Thessaloniki lies Ouranoupolis, the Gate of Mount Athos. The village seems to be a serene portrait which welcomes the pilgrims and prepares them for their spiritual journey to Mount Athos. Its visitors are welcomed by the Tower of Andronikos. In front of the tower lies the port, the gate of Mount Athos, where either the ferry boats travel to the monasteries or cruise around the peninsula at a distance of 500m from the beach. In Ouranoupolis the visitors have the unique chance to savor fresh fish caught in the Mount Athos Golf in traditional fish taverns, to relax in pleasant cafes or bars drinking cocktails on the beach watching the sunset. During the day the activities give unique opportunities for swimming or fishing at exotic beaches across Ouranoupolis, on the small isles, which can be visited by small fishing boats.

The cave of Petralona embellished with stalagmites and stalactites is located in the west foot of the Katsika (Goat) mountain and in an altitude of about 300 meters from the level of sea. The systematic excavations of the Cave began in 1965 by the founder of the Anthropologic Company of Greece, anthropologist professor Aris Paulianos. His researches proved that the Arhanthropos is about 700.000 years old, and this makes him the oldest European. This age was determined after the detailed analysis of stratigraphy (until today 28 geological layer have been revealed), and after studying the primitive and Paleolithic tools as well as the palaiofauna that were discovered in almost all the layers...www.gohalkidiki.com
